Educational Materials

At Revival Haven, we believe that education is vital in raising awareness and providing support. Below are essential resources to help you better understand domestic abuse, coercive control, and how to support those affected.

  1. What is Coercive Control?
Coercive control is a pattern of behaviors used to control and dominate a partner. It can be subtle and hard to recognize, but it’s a form of abuse that isolates, manipulates, and controls the victim's every move.
  2. Warning Signs of Domestic Abuse
Domestic abuse isn't always obvious. It may not involve physical violence but can include emotional, financial, or psychological control. It's important to recognize the signs early.
  3. Red Flags of an Abusive Relationship
Knowing the red flags of abuse can help you identify dangerous patterns before they escalate. Red flags include extreme jealousy, constant criticism, or controlling behavior.
  4. But He Doesn't Hit Me – Forms of Abuse Beyond Physical Violence
Abuse isn't limited to physical violence. Emotional, verbal, financial, and psychological abuse are just as damaging. Recognizing these forms of abuse is key to understanding how someone might be harmed.
  5. The Cycle of Abuse
The cycle of abuse involves a repeating pattern of tension-building, explosion, and reconciliation. Understanding this cycle can help break the pattern of abuse and offer clarity on why leaving an abusive relationship is so difficult.
  6. How to Support Someone Who is Being Abused
If you know someone experiencing abuse, it's important to offer support in a way that is safe for them. Listen, believe, and help them access resources to develop a safety plan.
  7. Resources for Legal Help and Protection Orders
In some situations, survivors may need legal help or protection from further abuse. Learn about how to obtain a restraining order and other legal resources available for those experiencing abuse.
  8. Understanding Gaslighting in Abusive Relationships
Gaslighting is a manipulative tactic used to make someone question their reality. It’s a form of emotional abuse often seen in toxic relationships.

By exploring these resources, you can become more informed and empowered to help break the cycle of abuse. If you or someone you know is in danger, please reach out to Revival Haven or another trusted support service to create a safety plan and access critical resources.

Legal Assistance

PA Safe Law

Victims of domestic violence and other crimes in Pennsylvania can access a network of experienced licensed attorneys for free and credible legal information, resources, and referrals for help navigating a variety of civil legal matters including domestic and sexual violence, divorce, custody, immigration, support cases, and more. Attorneys are available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to answer legal questions and provide legal information, resources and referrals via phone, chat, or email.

Lawyer Referral Service & Bar Association

The Lawyer Referral Service provides a much-needed opportunity for individuals to obtain legal advice for a modest fee. On request, the Lawyer Referral Service office will make an appointment for participating clients with a lawyer who is a member of the Lawyer Referral Service of Lehigh or Northampton County.

For a half-hour consultation with an attorney, the cost paid to the Lawyer Referral Service is $35.00 (as of 1/1/19). If more legal work is needed, this can be arranged at a cost agreed upon by the client and the attorney who does the work.

Northampton County Bar Association  or call at (610) 258-6333

Custody, Divorce, and Support

At Revival Haven, our advocates are not attorneys. While we cannot provide legal advice or tell you what to do, we are here to offer information, resources, referrals, and support services to help you navigate these challenging processes.

We understand how overwhelming custody, divorce, and support cases can be, especially for those impacted by domestic abuse. Although we are unable to assist with the filing of court paperwork, we can connect you with trusted legal resources and advocacy services that specialize in these matters.

Offender Tracking and Victim Notification Services

At Revival Haven, we understand the importance of safety and peace of mind for survivors of domestic abuse. If you are concerned about an offender’s status, Pennsylvania offers services to keep you informed:

PA SAVIN (Pennsylvania’s Victim Notification Services)

If the offender is in a county jail, you can receive notifications about their movements, such as:

  • When the offender is released from jail
  • If the offender escapes
  • If the offender is transferred to another location
